Description: The Department of Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering (CME) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level focused on air quality, decarbonization, climate resilience and sustainability related research starting August 16, 2025. Candidates who work at the intersection of Environmental Engineering and other Civil Engineering related fields are particularly encouraged to apply. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cross disciplinary research in indoor/outdoor air quality of various sources, air pollution control, environmental sensing and informatics, climate change resilience and adaptation, decarbonization of the built environment, and next generation infrastructure systems for environmental sustainability and justice. Qualifications: The successful candidates will possess a PhD (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, and will be expected to establish a strong sponsored research program, teach, and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, and advise students. The successful candidate will be expected to perform interdisciplinary research, interface with industry, federal, state, local, national labs (e.g., Argonne), and other governmental agencies to attract external funds for support of research, provide service to the university and the profession, and publish in technical journals. The previously determined range for this position is $100,000- $160,00. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
