In this paid internship you will contribute to a project focused on the modeling and simulation of spent liquid nuclear fuels for molten salt reactors (MSRs) and the advanced data visualization of these simulations. You will help develop computational models, perform simulations, and create advanced data visualization tools to effectively communicate the outcomes. The ideal candidate has a background in computational modeling and simulation, familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB, and experience with data visualization. This internship offers the chance to work with leading scientists and engineers, gain hands-on experience with advanced nuclear reactor technologies, and contribute to groundbreaking research in nuclear energy. Reporting to the Thermal Fluid Systems Methods and Analysis group. This team works a 9x80 schedule, and works onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:




  • 2nd year vocational/technical college/ Undergraduate Degree Program enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying Nuclear Engineering, or related field



  • A minimum overall ((3.0)) GPA



  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:




  • Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)



  • Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)



  • PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)



  • Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.



  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
