Are you passionate about leading and transforming information security in a dynamic and growing environment? Northwestern Mutual is looking for a visionary Business Information Security Principal to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving our security strategy forward. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and lead comprehensive security projects across multiple business functions, subsidiaries, and the Information Risk and Cybersecurity (IRC) divisions, aligning with the strategic vision set by the VP of Business Information Security Office.

  • Serve as an Information Security subject matter expert (SME), participating in the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust security measures for our supported subsidiaries and lines of business (LoBs).

  • Provide expert advice to LoB management on risk issues related to information security and recommend actions that support the Enterprise's broader risk management and compliance programs.

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of Business Information Security (BIS) professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

  • Oversee the expansion of BIS Core Services, ensuring the exceptional delivery of Information Security Guidance, LoB Cybersecurity Support, Cyber Regulatory Engagement, and LoB Leadership & Board Engagement.

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with external and internal stakeholders, including business units, subsidiaries, and IRC divisions, to enhance and advance security practices across the organization.

  • Conduct high-level analysis of security trends and their impacts on organizational strategies, identifying opportunities to automate and standardize information security controls.

  • Improve the efficacy of governance processes by identifying risks, monitoring controls, and implementing remediation measures to address issues effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Masters degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Information Security) or advanced certifications in Information Security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, SANS, or equivalent) are preferred.

  • 9-14 years of leadership experience in information security, strategic planning, and managing large-scale projects, with previous experience as an information security officer being highly advantageous.

  • Deep knowledge of information security principles and innovative technologies.

  • Proven strategic management and leadership skills, with an exceptional ability to solve complex problems and make a significant organizational impact.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in information security and experience in developing organizational security strategies are preferred.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$153,300.00

Pay Range - End:

$284,700.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
