Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The goal of the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention ( HPDP) is to prevent chronic disease and reduce health disparities. Investigators and staff at HPDP work with communities to conduct research, provide training and translate research findings into policy and practice. Research areas include nutrition and physical activity, cardiovascular health, diabetes, obesity, healthy food access, cancer prevention and control, children's health, rural health, and health equity. HPDP is part of a network of 26 CDC Prevention Research Centers across the United States.

The vision of the Community Health and Wellness Resource Team is a world where all individuals live, work, and play in communities that provide for optimal, equitable health and wellness. Their mission is dedicated to supporting caregivers and those in their care by creating, evaluating, and implementing strategies to promote equitable health and wellness.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Research Assistant position (Permanent Time Limited- up to 1 year) will work with the Community Health and Wellness Resource Team on current projects including research on care environments, to potentially include child care, adult supervised care, and Veteran care. The Research Assistant will assist in prepping materials for recruitment and data collection, be trained on all study protocols, lead recruitment and data collection efforts and prepare research guides and other tools. The position will develop or assist in the development of interview schedules; contact potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol and to arrange participation. The Research Assistant will monitor the study email for questions from participants, assist the project manager with data checking for accuracy and completeness, and assist with data entry and cleaning. Finally, the position will assist with online gift card management and procurement as well as receipt of incentives. Attend project and team meetings.

Some evening hours may be required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Qualtrics.
- Able to work in a hybrid position
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience with using research protocols to recruit and collect data on participants.
- Experience and knowledge with any of the following settings: the child care (early care and education) setting; retirement or elder care settings; and/or military or Veteran services.
