Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Supervising
APN for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
This position provides clinical and administrative leadership to the Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) on the hospitalist service. The Director is a licensed nurse practitioner with management and leadership experience who oversees the entire advanced practice function under the direction of the Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Oversees clinical activities of APNs.
- Interviews, hires, and evaluates APN staff.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of clinical competence by establishing structure, policies and guidelines.
- Ensures APN quality and performance improvement initiatives are carried out and appropriate action plans are developed to correct deficiencies.
- Develops and implements programs to meet the department and divisional objectives consistent with the philosophy, mission, vision and strategic plan.
- Demonstrates dependability in meeting target dates for reports and project completion.
- Meets regularly with physician leadership to foster ongoing relations and determine adequacy of APN staffing and quality of care delivery.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Five (5) years of nursing experience, at least two (2) of which shall have been as an Advanced Practice Nurse Required, preferably in a related specialty but not required.
- Master's degree in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice highly preferred.

- Registered as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to function in a team environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Serves as an active member of nurse practitioner professional organizations.
