The Building Engineer is a multifaceted role responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of facility equipment and systems. This position requires a broad range of technical skills, including expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, technical proficiency, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Responsibilities: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment and systems Respond to tenant requests and complaints, including temperature issues and general maintenance Perform preventive maintenance tasks on various building systems Monitor and log equipment readings, settings, and operational changes Manage HVAC systems, including adjustments, repairs, and digital control operations Conduct general maintenance tasks, including painting, lighting maintenance, and equipment room upkeep Assist with major equipment overhauls and annual inspections Manage and execute change requests as required by clients Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean, safe workplace Monitor and manage vendor work quality and pricing Desired behavioral traits: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Excellent customer service orientation Effective communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and record-keeping Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills Qualifications: Minimum Requirements: 4+ years of HVAC commercial experience 4+ years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry EPA 608 UniversalCertification Preferred Requirements: 2+ years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC, union training or military service Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) Experience with building automation systems and energy management Additional certifications in relevant technical areas Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and overhead work Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights up to 30 ft |
