Head of US Cyber Catastrophe Modelling

This is a hybrid role, with flexibility to work both virtually and from our Chicago or New York City offices

What the day will look like

  • Lead cyber catastrophe modeling for the US team, within the US Cyber Analytics Team
    • Develop/train and work with trainees, analysts, and senior analysts to complete projects
    • Manage direct reports focused on cyber catastrophe modeling
    • Work closely with Aon's Global Cyber Analytics Team within Aon Reinsurance Solutions on client work and research and development objectives
    • Contribute to team strategy to best position Aon Reinsurance Cyber as a leader in the cyber (re)insurance market
  • Complete catastrophe modeling for reinsurance renewal work, identifying drivers of year over year changes in results
    • Present findings in meetings with clients' ceded reinsurance professionals, underwriters, etc.
    • Contribute to tool development in order improve efficiency and automate reoccurring tasks
  • Participate in Aon thought leadership regarding cyber cat modeling, including but not limited to:
    • Developing an Aon View of Risk around cyber catastrophe vendor models (CyberCube, Cyence, KOVRR, RMS)
    • Developing and consulting on realistic disaster cyber cat scenarios
    • Solving unique and complex problems relating to cyber systemic risk
    • Coordinating research projects with internal/external partners

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 8+ years of direct industry experience in catastrophe and/or climate modeling, data cleanup/validation/analysis or experience in an analytical field; preferably analyzing complex datasets
  • Experience managing or mentoring teammates
  • Excellent communicator, especially the ability to explain complicated concepts
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning. Ability to think strategically, work independently and take initiative
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving experience
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple assignments, work well independently and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Advanced user of R, SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred

Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Math or other similarly quantitative or analytically-orientated major or equivalent years of industry experience.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $115,000 to $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
