Dr. Holly Wilcox, based at Johns Hopkins University, is currently recruiting a full-time Research Program Coordinator for a study funded by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The multi-site study will compare the effectiveness of two relatively brief and scalable evidence-based interventions: the Safety Planning Intervention with follow-up contacts (SPI+), a suicide-specific intervention that helps people prevent suicidal crises from escalating, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents Suicide Crisis Intervention (IPT-A SCI), a psychotherapeutic crisis intervention treatment for suicidal adolescents that teaches youth skills to prevent suicidal crises and addresses interpersonal problems that lead to suicidal crises. The results will inform the future standard of care for youth at risk for suicide presenting in the emergency department. This position is particularly well suited for individuals seeking to gain research and clinical experience prior to graduate or medical school. Lastly, this position will work closely with other study staff and the principal investigator(s) with regards to study management, preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation, reporting to PCORI, and other administrative tasks.
