The George Washington University's School of Business (
GWSB) mission is to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula, and focus on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. In support of this mission, the F. David Fowler Career Center is searching for a Senior Career Coach in the specialty area of business analytics or marketing and other industries as needed. This individual is a key contributor to providing high-quality career consulting and career management education to graduate and undergraduate students within the School of Business. The position reports to the Director, Career Management.
This senior position provides career counseling and career management education to students and alumni to help them become market-and employer-ready. This position does not typically have direct reports but may schedule, train and supervise temporary staff or student workers. The core responsibility of this role is to:
- provide career counseling to students and alumni, including
- assessment of student/alumni goals and interests,
- resume review,
- interview preparation,
- self-branding and effective job/internship search
- tactics to ensure market and employer readiness.
This position uses coaching techniques and conducts mock interviews (behavioral and technical). This position also plays an integral role in the design, delivery, and management of career and professional development programs, seminars, and sessions (online and in-person), in order to educate students on career management methodology. This position assists with the collection and reporting of statistics on student employment outcomes.
Additional responsibilities include providing relevant market insight to students, participating in career services events, and creating, developing, and maintaining relationships with industry specific contacts. This position may also develop, deliver, and evaluate career development programs to build foundational career skills of students and may conduct and/or customize meetings and presentations with students in person and through group workshops and classes. This role works with the employer development team in all aspects of the employment relationship to facilitate the employment of students.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Two+ years of career coaching, project management or professional experience in Business Analytics or Marketing areas strongly preferred.
- Master's Level Degree, MBA or STEM preferred.
- Experience in program and/or curriculum development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills.
