Summary of Position |
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Research Professor to work with Alison W. Watts and other members of the department.
Applicants should have a strong background in ecosystem assessment, environmental genomics, molecular engineering, and aquatic systems, as well as demonstrated leadership in engaged scholarship, interdisciplinary collaboration, outreach, and education. Strong candidates will demonstrate expertise in research areas such as environmental microbiology, ecological monitoring in support of status assessments, environmental
DNA analysis, and statistical analysis. Candidates will have prior experience with laboratory and computational resources for analyzing ecological communities with environmental
DNA metabarcoding, especially in marine, freshwater, and estuarine aquatic systems.
Applicants will be expected to develop an externally funded research program that leverages UNH's state-of-the art research infrastructure, including resources in the Marine School, Hubbard Center for Genome Studies, and/or the Research Computing Center, and develop projects relevant to the mission of
UNH and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Preferred candidates also will have the capacity to design and perform projects relating microbial or ecosystem response to environmental contaminants, wind farms, and other anthropogenic disturbances.
The position is contingent upon availability of funding. |
