Role Description

The Compliance Analyst will work under the direction of the Lead Counsel for Compliance Investigations ("Investigations Lead Counsel") and the Monitoring & Testing Lead ("M&T Lead"). The Compliance Analyst will help ensure the effective and efficient management of the global Compliance Investigations and Monitoring & Testing functions by: (1) assisting with internal investigations by conducting document reviews and taking interview notes; (2) operating, under the direction of the Investigations Lead Counsel, the Zoetis Compliance Helpline Portal and related mechanisms for reporting and escalating potential compliance issues; (3) maintaining a comprehensive log of all compliance matters and an associated document repository of key correspondence and documents; (4) working with the Investigations Lead Counsel to coordinate with various functions and stakeholders to determine and implement appropriate corrective measures; and (5) executing routine and risk-based compliance monitoring and auditing of relevant business activities and related policies and procedures.

The Compliance Analyst will dedicate roughly half of their time assisting the Investigations function, and the other half to the Monitoring & Testing Function. The Compliance Analyst may occassionally perform other responsibilities for the Compliance function as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the Zoetis Compliance Investigations function by supporting effective, efficient and timely resolution of compliance matters consistent with applicable law, regulation, and/or Zoetis policy.
  • Assist with internal investigations under the direction and supervision of the Investigations Lead Counsel, including (1) report intake and assessment; (2) developing and implementing investigative work plans; and (3) document review and fact finding.
  • Operate the Zoetis Compliance Helpline Portal and other mechanisms for reporting and escalating potential compliance issues for investigation, as well as the internal systems and process for documenting, internal reporting, benchmarking and trend analysis.
  • Draft clear, succinct and concise factual summaries (including interview notes, memos and PowerPoints) documenting investigative work plans and findings.
  • Develop effective, cooperative working relationships with multiple stakeholders including Zoetis Legal, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Quality, Regulatory and commercial colleagues and others in support of the Zoetis Compliance function.
  • Assist with reviewing third party due diligence and related reports, employee expense reports, government interacting and other high risk transactions through the use of internal compliance monitoring tools.
  • Support the Lead Counsels with a range of additional responsibilities such as maintaining and updating corporate policies and procedures, deployment of compliance training, communications and other program elements and related special initiatives as directed by the Lead Counsels.
  • Support the Lead Counsels in developing and implementing monitoring and testing procedures, reporting findings and tracking implementation of enhancements; compiling and consistently delivering reliable reports concerning monitoring, auditing, and risk assessment efforts at the direction of the Lead Counsels.
  • Ensure that compliance program metrics and reports are timely and accurately generated for stakeholders across functional areas of Zoetis as directed by the CCO and the Lead Counsels.
  • Collaborate with the Zoetis Compliance team to inform the development, risk-informed adjustment, continuous improvement and overall effectiveness of the compliance program.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with high academic standing;
  • 2-3 years of prior experience focusing on complex litigation cases, internal investigations or government investigations, including managing document reviews, taking interview notes and memos, and compiling factual summaries. Experience in the government, a large law firm, or life sciences company is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to effectively communicate with different stakeholders.
  • Strong capacity for teamwork to achieve Zoetis compliance program objectives.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Positive and friendly demeanor with a dynamic work ethic.
  • Committed to the highest ethical standards, integrity and transparency.

Technical Skill Requirements

  • Mastery of MS Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with document review platforms, including Relativity.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Ariba SLP, and Concur Expense platforms.

Physical Position Requirements

  • Hybrid working environment, with approximately 50% of time (2-3 work days per week) required on-site in Parsippany, NJ headquarters.

Occasional travel may be required (less than 2 total weeks a year).
