Requisition Id14100 Overview: We are seeking a Senior Welding Technician who will focus on supporting Research and Development in Materials Joining and related advanced manufacturing technologies. This position resides in the Materials Joining Group (MJG) in the Materials Structures and Processing Science Section, Materials Science and Technology Division, Physical Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). As part of our research team, you will be involved in research and development activities in materials joining and related advanced manufacturing technologies. In this role, you will support multiple R&D programs related to materials joining and materials processing for a host of R&D staff, visiting scientists, postdocs, and students from the group, the division and other organizations of ORNL. The position requires demonstrated experience and knowledge to operate highly specialized welding and materials processing equipment, such as arc welding, laser welding, electron beam welding and other automated welding systems, as well as nondestructive and destructive weld testing and evaluation. Certification as American Welding Society Certified Welder and Certified Welding Inspector is highly desired. Major Duties/Responsibilities:
