Manufacturing Technology Engineer

Job Summary

In this role, you will showcase your capability to perform engineering assignments spanning production, maintenance, process, capital projects, and R&D. This will involve the application of established process engineering technology and principles and coordination with other engineering and functional competencies to provide economical and expedient task implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Actively supports and participates in site environmental, health and safety initiatives to drive EH&S excellence.
  • Participates in and/or leads Management of Change Reviews

Quality and Manufacturing

  • Provides leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area including monitoring quality parameters and coaching operations on meeting quality and production targets.
  • Participates in Root Cause Investigations and advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills.
  • Update, review and approve Operating Procedures, P&ID's and Standard Operating Conditions according to the safety and quality system requirements of the site
  • Lead campaign-specific operator training and assist Process Owner with operator qualification in order to ensure that operators have the necessary skills to run the process.
  • Lead optimization activities related to capacity, process consistency and cost reduction.

Technical Improvements

  • Leverages R&D and technical service resources to understand and meet customer quality requirements.
  • Develops knowledge of the manufacturing process and products and works with other engineers to ensure that equipment is performing to design specification.
  • Proposes and leads improvement efforts including developing plans for design and implementation.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical/mechanical engineering or a related field is required
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience within the food, pharma and/or petroleum industry
  • Experience in chemical distillation process, food manufacture, spray congealing, packaging is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a strong plus
  • Must be available to be "on call", and in case of plant upsets, may be required to work additional hours as needed to help resume normal production.
