Insurance Strategy Consulting Associate

This is a hybrid position with flexibility to work both virtually and from Aon's Chicago office

What the day will look like

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Strategy Advisory group within the Strategy & Technology Group (STG) vertical in Chicago, Illinois.

Aon STG Strategy Advisory provides consulting services to firms who operate across the insurance landscape, which include many of the most prestigious companies in the Global Property, Casualty, Insurtech, Digital Platforms, and Health and Benefit (re)insurance market. We help our clients to navigate a fast-changing market environment to drive profitable and sustainable growth and business results. We have privileged access to Aon's proprietary data and its global network of (re)insurance industry experts to derive unique and compelling insights into the sources of competitive advantage in our industry. Most importantly we help our clients to turn insights into practical actions and into tangible outcomes.

We work with our clients to understand their objectives, address their challenges, develop a deep understanding of market conditions and issues, and create strategies that drive growth opportunities and competitive market advantages.

  • Participate in full lifecycle client engagements by supporting the delivery of discrete workstreams and strategic initiatives
  • Perform data analyses and financial modeling to derive quantitative insights
  • Conduct market and subject domain research, quantitative and qualitative analyses, to inform strategic recommendations to clients
  • Prepare and participate in client interviews and discovery sessions with Aon subject matter experts
  • Engage and actively contribute to the production of reports and other client deliverables and developing client-ready materials (PowerPoint, Excel, White Papers)
  • Support project leadership in synthesizing findings, identifying key insights from analyses, and implementation and execution of strategic recommendations
  • Actively participate in the identification and communication of recommendations to clients
  • Support client relationship management activities alongside other STG colleagues
  • Work in a collaborative environment with clients and colleagues
  • Work with senior management to develop proposals and create marketing and business development materials
  • Support the operational needs of STG including internal initiatives such as recruiting, marketing, communications, etc.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 2+ years of experience in consulting, finance, corporate strategy, insurance, or related fields
  • Strong analytical abilities and a track record of academic success
  • Strong verbal communication and business writing abilities
  • Willingness to learn and solve complex problems
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, on multiple workstreams, and with tight deadlines
  • Regularly identifies opportunities to take on additional responsibility and to work more efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experienced in data analytics tools is a plus
  • Willing to travel up to 20%

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, a related field or equivalent years of industry experience

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $65000 to $85000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
