Behavioral Health Therapist II Inova Cares for Behavioral Health is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist II to join the team. Behavioral Health Therapist II Job Responsibilities:
- Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department-specific evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals and needs. Integrates assessment using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care.
- Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
- Provides care management to ensure that the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Healthrelated field.
- Experience: Two years of experience in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidencebased interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies).
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire.
- Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Comfortable working in integrated behavioral health and collaborative care settings. Skilled in utilizing screening tools (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7), engaging in warm handoffs, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support coordinated, whole-person care.
- Possess clinical insight into family systems and relational dynamics, with the ability to navigate complex support structures to promote resilience and emotional wellness.
- Strong documentation and clinical assessment skills aligned with Virginia Medicaid standards.
- Can confidently facilitate psychoeducational programming tailored to diverse groups and life experiences.
- Comfortable using telehealth platforms and remote care tools
