Description & Requirements
The Infectious Disease and Microbiome Program (IDMP) is looking for a Group Leader to lead and direct investigations into the mechanisms of host-microbiome interactions in health and disease. We are an interdisciplinary group with expertise in computational analysis, microbiology, and immunology. The candidate for this position will be working closely with computational and experimental biologists to contribute to planning, developing novel methods, and executing the analysis of large multi-omic datasets with the goal of identifying microbes, genes, or microbial products that are relevant to human health. The ideal candidate should be broadly experienced with analyzing next-generation sequencing data, statistics, and machine learning, and should be willing to collaborate closely with computational postdocs for methods implementation and with experimental team members for validation of computational results. Prospective applicants should have made significant contributions to their area of study, as evidenced by a strong publication record. We are seeking creative, exceptionally self-motivated, and enthusiastic individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment.
The Broad Institute is an amazing place - we apply our deep knowledge of human biology to empower a revolution in biomedicine and accelerate the pace at which the world conquers disease. We stand on the leading edge of biomedical research, with a mission to broadly disseminate discoveries and information to the scientific community. Through our partnerships with MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard teaching hospitals, we have become a worldwide hub of cutting-edge biomedical science.
In this position, you will:
- Engage a vibrant community of world-leading scientists.Broad Programs are hubs for researchers across our seven partner institutions and the global scientific community.
- Contribute intellectually. You look forward to both attending and shaping scientific projects, conferences, and program meetings and digesting scientific literature in order to keep current on a wide range of topics. You enjoy engaging in discussions with accomplished scientists and you're confident and forthright with your own ideas - but also able to work in the background and defer to others.
- Manage your time effectively. You have superb time management skills and are used to shifting priorities and meeting deadlines. You have a knack for knowing how and what to prioritize, and your leaders and collaborators trust that you will deliver.
