Our Senior Geotechnical Engineers provide engineering and consulting services across diverse projects and clients. Responsibilities include leading field investigations, conducting engineering analysis and calculations, and designing and developing plans and specifications. Engineers will also observe and inspect work, prepare and review reports, and ensure compliance with design documents. Additional tasks include preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking project progress and budgets, and recommending adjustments as needed. This role involves researching and resolving design and construction issues, reviewing and analyzing laboratory and field data, and applying sound engineering principles. Engineers must effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical clients, project teams and audiences. Services are provided for existing and proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial sectors.

General Responsibilities:
  • Lead and model safety practices, ensuring team adherence to safety guidelines and promoting pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Champion continuous quality monitoring and improvement, maintaining high standards on all projects.
  • Develop an understanding of project-related risks to protect Terracon's interests.
  • Provide technical direction for routine, unique, and complex projects.
  • Conceptualize initial design or investigative approaches for major phases of large projects or oversee engineering work on projects of moderate scope.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering tasks, addressing complex design requirements as needed.
  • Review and supervise projects involving complex investigation techniques, and oversee the analysis and formulation of recommendations in reports for clients.
  • Lead technical training and make decisions based on current technology trends.
  • Oversee marketing, sales, and business development initiatives.
  • Supervise less experienced engineers and technical support staff.
  • Serve as an Authorized Project Reviewer within Terracon's quality review process.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8-11 years' experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
