Overview
Are you a proactive problem-solver with a passion for emergency preparedness? Utah State University is seeking a dedicated Emergency Management Coordinator to help strengthen our campus community's readiness and resilience. Join our team and work under the guidance of the Director of Emergency Management to keep our university safe, prepared, and connected!

As the Emergency Management Coordinator, you'll be at the forefront of our emergency preparedness efforts. With a focus on the Logan Campus, you'll develop, organize, and oversee our emergency response programs. From coordinating emergency drills to refining our response plans, your work will be vital in safeguarding our students, faculty, and staff.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities
  • Emergency Planning & Coordination: Assist in the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of campus-wide emergency management programs. Staff our University Command Center during real emergencies, events, and training exercises.
  • Training & Preparedness Programs: Coordinate and deliver exercises, and instructional programs for campus departments.
  • Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP): Support the development of a business continuity framework that identifies and protects essential campus operations.
  • Community & Institutional Collaboration: Foster partnerships with community emergency services and internal university departments and promote emergency programs through public relations and marketing initiatives.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of experience in disaster planning, mitigation, response, and recovery, or an associate degree plus two years of experience or a bachelor's degree is required.
  • Proficiency in NIMS (National Incident Management System).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with a knack for working collaboratively across multiple teams and groups.
  • Proficiency with software tools like email, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting material.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of or training in FEMA ICS-100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 training courses.
  • Conflict resolution expertise and customer service skills.
  • Experience in emergency management training, grant writing, and program evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the Clery Act
