Compensation Grade: P20Compensation Details: Minimum: $70,795.00 - Maximum: $70,795.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) CCH - Division of EpidemiologyJob Description: Responsibilities The Public Health Representative III will coordinate and/or assist with the coordination of public health emergency preparedness activities as a member of the Epidemiology Preparedness Unit in the NYS Department of Health's Division of Epidemiology. These preparedness activities include actively participating in meetings and workgroups related to health emergency preparedness planning and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for developing electronic forms to capture data and screening criteria for the administration of medical countermeasures in the Department's Countermeasure Data Management System (CDMS), including researching medical countermeasures and coordinating with Division Executive Staff and subject matter experts throughout the Division of Epidemiology, the Division of Vaccine Excellence, the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness, other Offices within the Department, and other State agencies. The incumbent will troubleshoot and recommend improvements to functionalities of CDMS to better serve the needs of end users and provide technical assistance to local health departments and other public health partners. The incumbent will gain familiarity with Statewide preparedness plans and sections of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant and provide support toward ensuring programmatic milestones are met. The incumbent will also perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience in a health, human service or community-based organization, that includes providing direct patient/client services, performing regulatory activities, conducting epidemiological research, and/or direct clinical care as a healthcare provider, or closely related experience; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biology, epidemiology, or public health. At least three years of relevant work experience in communicable disease case/outbreak investigations, public health emergency response, or related public health activities. Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP). Ability to establish priorities within assigned projects; organize, consolidate, and prepare narrative and numerical information into clear, logical reports; analyze written and published program material and draw conclusions concerning its impact. Experience using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 25% of the time, may be required. This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
