We are seeking a strong Cloud FinOps professional who is highly technical and experienced in cloud Infrastructure optimization. This Cloud Architect will be an integral person for Cloud platform, spend optimization expertise and will be responsible for working with multi-functional teams coming up with design, development, and deployment strategies for highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions in the cloud platform.

As a FinOps Architect, you will craft and implement cloud-cost optimization strategies, analyze cloud spend, identify potential cost savings, define follow-up activities, and increase productivity. Your focus will be optimizing service's resource utilization, reducing wastage, and choosing the most efficient instance families for our workloads. You will collaborate with our technology and business stakeholders to understand cloud consumption, drive continuous cost efficiencies and align cloud spending with business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic innovation and architectural excellence that aligns with Salesforce's transformation journey in the public cloud
  • Collaborate with various infrastructure teams to analyze cloud usage patterns, identify areas for cost efficiency, determine variance causes, and provide transparency into results
  • Leverage AI models to analyze cost and usage data to provide insights into cost-saving opportunities and develop cost models for new initiatives influencing architectural decisions and providing inputs to business drivers
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Application teams, Operations team, Finance team to maintain cloud spend and environment stability through data analysis, consulting, accurate documentation, and creative problem-solving lens
  • Work alongside of product teams and development teams across the organization to understand cloud usage patterns and identify optimization opportunities; both technical and functional; and optimize application performance and reduce cloud costs without impacting service quality.
  • Participate in the design and deployment of highly available and cost-optimized cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms like AWS
  • Advice service owners by deeply understanding their architecture and making cloud-optimized recommendations.
  • Develop and Implement Cloud FinOps policies, processes, training, and guidelines to ensure financial discipline and scale
  • Devise a set of Cloud Service cost optimization rules and templates that will be used in architecting/designing Cloud Infrastructure solution
    • Participate actively in Cloud architecture discussions to ensure proper cost optimization factors are considered for an efficient solution
    • Work with Engineering and Operations team to ensure proper thresholds and alerts are created to track resource usage and cost consumption
    • Track and report on cost savings achieved through optimization initiatives

    Required Skills:

    • A related technical degree required
    • 10+ years of proven related technical experience including 3-5 years of demonstrated ability in Cloud, with experience as a FinOps practitioner; 8+ years of experience in cloud operations or system administration
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, design and cost optimization; Operating System and Command Line Tools; Windows System Administration
    • Ability to Leverage AI capabilities
    • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, security principles and compliance requirements for cloud-based solutions.
    • Experience designing deploying and managing AWS infrastructure
    • Proven experience in Cloud Service Cost optimization planning and execution; and with with Public cloud financial tools and cost management such as AWS Cost explorer, AWS CUR
    • Detailed knowledge of various AWS Cloud service cost tiers and experience in applying knowledge in Cloud solution development
    • Experience in driving cost factor in architecture and design phase
    • Capability to analyze and identify possible cost optimization, based on service consumptions
    • Knowledge/understanding of tagging/grouping of Cloud resources based on a defined taxonomy

    Desired Skills/Experience:

    • SAAS experience
    • Professional cloud architect
    • Experience handling major cost-saving projects from inception through post-implementations
    • Finops certified practitioner
    • AWS certification

    Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Salesforce will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $204,400 to $296,400. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $223,000 to $323,400. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
