Director of Communications, Gund Institute for Environment at the University of Vermont

The Gund Institute for Environment seeks a Director of Communications who will improve public understanding of environmental issues and increase the visibility of the Gund Institute as a world-class center of research and solutions for people and nature.

Reporting to the director and in collaboration with the leadership team, the Director of Communications will: develop and implement the Gund Institute’s communications strategy to increase the impact of its work, communicate the Gund Institute’s work to external audiences, manage and empower the Gund Institute’s brand and reach., identify and contribute to joint communications initiatives at the university and with partners, train students, faculty, and staff, and supervise an employee and consultants. 

The ideal candidate will have proven and diverse communications and project management skills, demonstrable interest in environmental sciences and sustainability, and be both a leader and a team-player. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.
