Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff. A full time Post Doc Fellow staff position is available in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

A Postdoctoral Fellowship is available with Dr. Kelly Brunst in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Brunst is seeking a talented and strongly self-motivated individual to join her transdisciplinary research team studying the effects of air pollution, fluoride, and drivers of climate change on the programming of biological mechanisms related to childrens health. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to an NIEHS-funded T32 training program in Molecular Epidemiology in Children's Environmental Health (MECEH) that fosters the transdisciplinary training of postdoctoral fellows and an NIEHS-funded Cincinnati Center for Climate Change and Health.

Essential Functions

  • Primary data analyses.
  • Prepare and present data summaries and reports.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Participate and prepare presentations for departmental seminars and local/national conferences.
  • Development of new studies/ideas that promote current research and provide opportunities for future grant applications.
  • May train/mentor graduate students.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • Keep informed of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.

Required Education

PhD degree in epidemiology or a related field.

Required Experience

  • Strong statistical training in the use of R software for data analyses.
  • Experience writing and publishing peer reviewed articles.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively work on a variety of projects are essential.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Formal training in molecular epidemiology.
  • Expertise in analyzing DNA methylation array data (or other omic data).
