Department Information
The Peralta-Yahya lab, located in the School of chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech, has an exciting opportunity for a Research Technician II. This is a limited term position for one year. Our laboratory is interested in discovering, advancing, and applying principles from biochemistry and chemical engineering to address challenges in chemical bioproduction. Specifically, we focus on programing biological systems to efficiently convert renewable feedstocks into value-added chemicals.

Perform a variety of technical activities required for conducting tests and experiments in a school or research laboratory within the Institute. Includes data collection and analyses, experiment preparation and equipment setup and operation. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and research faculty, co-workers. Job Duty 1 -
Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc.

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records.

Job Duty 3 -
Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Job Duty 4 -
Participate as directed in experiment design and preparation.

Job Duty 5 -
Participate as directed in preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

Job Duty 6 -
Maintain laboratory equipment.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

The Research Technician II-LT should have experience in molecular biology, cloning, aseptic techniques and familiarity with bioinformatics software and ability to work as part of a team

Salary range: $20.00-$23.00 / hourly

The research technician will gather, compute and present findings, maintain research-related records and databases, operate various equipment used in research studies, participate as directed in the writing of protocols, maintain laboratory equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
