Job Summary

Job Summary

The ASUCD IT Applications Developer & Systems Administrator is responsible for a wide variety and complex array of IT systems, including development and implementation for all of ASUCD, which serves over 30,000 undergraduate students with essential services including public transportation. This position leads cloud-based software development and integration for all ASUCD student run units, such as the Coffee House, Bike Barn, the Pantry, and Unitrans, which is critical to daily transit operations for UC Davis and the City of Davis. This position performs a full range of technology support and staffing responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience interpreting existing database structure and web application code to diagnose, repair, enhance, and maintain existing programs and databases with the ability to integrate multiple databases and write complex database queries.
  • Demonstrated experience in web application development using tools and frameworks such as Django, Flask, React, Angular, PHP, .Net, Ruby.
  • Experience managing and implementing Windows Active Directory Infrastructure and Active Directory Group Policy and troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of Serve database administration including designing, enhancing, implementing, and debugging databases using MySQL Redis, Oracle, PostgreSQL.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing, developing, debugging, evaluating, and deploying Python, PHP, .Net, and Ruby web applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge applying industry practices, community standards, an department policies and procedures in depth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience as a programmer/analyst overseeing multiple systems, systems administration, and applications.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and networking protocols including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and working knowledge and experience with the following protocols: SMTP, POP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, SMTP.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact clearly and effectively with a variety of individuals and groups in the University community, whether basis or advanced computer users, which includes faculty, staff, vendors, students, Information Resources management, store management, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, Unix, and network security, including IPsec and firewall policies.
