What You'll Do:

The Benefits Coordinator, under supervision of the Manager, Health and Welfare Plans, assists with the administration of all health and welfare benefit programs. As the Benefits Coordinator, you will provide assistance as needed to employees and divisions company-wide concerning benefit plan offerings, eligibility, and coverage and play a pivotal role in annual enrollment. Responsibilities include acting as first point of contact for employees with benefit plan questions or concerns, assisting in the coordination of the annual enrollment process, as well as routine employee election changes. You must remain knowledgeable on all Vulcan benefits programs in order to answer employee questions and conduct employee benefits meetings as needed. You will also perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of the benefits function.

Responsibilities include:



  • Assist employees with benefit plan questions and problems.
  • Serve as liaison between employees and plan vendors as needed.
  • Assist divisions with administrative questions and issues.
  • Answer Employee Benefits Department telephone inquiries.
  • Monitor and reply to emails and faxes in the Benefits email box in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve applications for changes in insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Coordinate Evidence of Insurability as needed.
  • Serve as back-up for Benefits Analysts when necessary.
  • Prepare departmental invoices for review and approval from the Benefit Managers.
  • Download and distribute budget reports for the department.
  • Retrieve and distribute mail for the department, as well as ordering supplies.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.

Experience: At least one year of experience in HR and/or benefits administration is required.

Technology Skills: Must be proficient in Excel. Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint. PeopleSoft experience preferred but not required.

Analytical Skills. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have superior verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with peers as needed. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Must be able to maintain confidential information.

Time Management Skills. Must have the ability to effectively organize priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Functional Knowledge. Must have knowledge and understanding of relevant state and federal regulations required as well as company policies and benefit plans.
