Position Summary: The Parent Advocate Supervisor will provide concrete support to parent advocates who are assigned to work with families across all three foster care programs. The supervisor will provide weekly supervision and case reviews with the staff who are targeted to work with families for the first 90 days of a case or when there is a change in case planning circumstances. For example, they can be reassigned at the time of a trial discharge, a failed trial discharge, or if the goal is being changed back to "return to parent" via a suspended judgment. The supervisor will ensue that they and all parent advocates receive the appropriate RISE training and attend ongoing trainings as needed.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Supervise a unit of up to 6 parent advocates.
  • Ensure that progress notes are reviewed and entered into connections within 5 business days of the event.
  • Attend home visits, family team conferences and transitional conferences along with the parent advocates to provide additional support to the staff and families.
  • Meet with families during Family Time (Family Visiting) as a support to encourage visits and to help parents problem-solve obstacles to healthy effective time with their children.
  • Accompany parents to service providers such as drug treatment, housing, mental health programs, or court as a source of encouragement and support and helping parents overcome ambivalence about starting new programming in the event that a parent advocate is unable to attend the provider as scheduled.
  • Coordinate with the members of the foster care teams to plan activities with parents and to outline efforts to move families to discharge more quickly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Master's degree required, preferably in Social Work or related field.
  • Understanding of the foster care system with at least three years of child welfare experience.


Key Competencies:



  • Experience in parent advocate training through ACS, RISE, CWOP or another agency a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
  • Flexibility and ability to work with families in their communities.
  • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Trained in Connections.
