The Global Category Leader, Energy is a leadership role in the Global Indirect Sourcing organization and is responsible for establishing strategic direction, for the enterprise energy needs, including, but not limited to natural gas, electricity, oxygen, carbon, and renewable energy sourcing. Specifically, this role is accountable for aligning with the businesses and corporate functional strategies, while managing approximately $500MM in spend.

The Global Category Leader, Energy will lead a team of sourcing professionals and third-party advisory partners to inspire innovation, reduce cost, improve supplier quality, and manage the day-to-day energy sourcing needs of the enterprise. The position will utilize various industry information and benchmarking, draw upon knowledge of the global markets, interpret key stakeholder requirements, and leverage actionable data analytics in evaluating strategies, developing options, and executing tactics to deliver sustainable sourcing solutions.

As a member of the Global Indirect Sourcing Team, Global Category Leader, Energy demonstrates teamwork and a commitment to the overall success of Owens Corning. Supplier Relationship Management



  • Managing inflation and savings forecasts in a data driven manner accounting for potential short, medium and long-term risks and allocating resources to mitigate supply & supplier risk as necessary.
  • Develop strong business relationships with all levels of key supplier base with focus on senior levels appropriately.
  • Visit suppliers regularly to assess their capabilities, and understand their business strategies and priorities.
  • Ensure appropriate level of Supplier Management (including overall commercial account management) for supply base and make this a linchpin of continuous improvement for OC/supplier relationship and results.
  • Develop strong understanding of key supplier industries through "outside in" perspective and regularly calibrate the contemporary state of this perspective.
  • Benchmark our key suppliers regularly.
  • Lead supplier management for category, including:

    • Key account management
    • Performance management platform
    • Supplier recognition
    • A process for auditing performance
    • Sustainability

Strategic Sourcing Expertise



  • Leading the commodity risk management and commodity hedging processes, understanding how commodity markets function and monitoring for change, delivering commodity market assessments
  • Assuring compliance with Corporate governance for all transactions
  • Building insight and knowledge of critical supplier base, their business, what is necessary for the supplier to be successful, and the value that our current and future global supplier base delivers
  • Maintaining industry knowledge of supply and demand fundamentals


  • Ensuring operations are consistent with the global supplier code of conduct and OC values.


  • Leading and managing the negotiation of contractual relationships
  • Developing a deep understanding of the industries and markets, as well as key drivers and influences on those industries and markets. Keeps a forward-looking, long term, view of key trends and activities which will significantly impact the overall global enterprise.
  • Teaching functional acumen and concepts to assure sound decision making and value creation at every level of the business
  • Participating on various committees and supports initiatives inside and outside of the function


  • Ensure the development and attainment of site strategies that are thoughtfully developed and analyzed with focused insight on the external market including;



      • Regional and global macroeconomic supply & demand trends.
      • Commodity availability & capacity including OC participation vs. overall market.
      • Supplier/commodity risk.
      • Supplier performance management.
      • Value Creation and other relevant business factors.

Metrics



  • Strategy development and regular reviews with Global Sourcing NLT and key business leaders
  • Partnering and building OC's renewables portfolio
  • Total Value Creation targets and monthly tracking across programs, business and segment built on negotiated cost reductions and material cost take out
  • Cash flow improvement targets driven by business need executed through payment terms extension and/or supply chain financing along with inventory reductions
  • Accurate inflation forecasting through the lens of an external market perspective and qualitative explanations for key assumptions
  • Sets Annual Goals & Objectives with Sourcing Director, Indirect
  • Driving the talent management agenda with strong and aligned objectives, coaching, development plans, and meaningful feedback.



JOB REQUIREMENTS - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience in a global sourcing organization or relevant business/commercial experience with progressive responsibilities and success in leading a function

  • Experience with complex agreements, large contracts or other legal agreements
