The Role: Directs and coordinates through supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, capabilities of machines and equipment, maintenance of company facilities and safety. Develops and implements goals and objectives to meet business initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Confers with management to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products.
- Plans and schedules production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors; ensures planned KPI's for efficiency and performance are met or exceeded.
- Ensures the effective management of production lines, coordinates and implements standard operating procedures for production operations; makes sure products are produced on time and are of good quality.
- Monitors product standards and ensures compliance to QMS, GMP's and 5S processes; tracks competencies of subordinates and provides leadership and development as required to achieve objectives.
- Makes decisions regarding the operating area's layout, design and arrangement of work processes.
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational and manufacturing challenges to ensure cost containment and to prevent operational delays and meet plant objectives. Provides all manufactured materials. - Reviews operations and area forecast data to determine progress toward goals and objectives.
Manages deployment of Lean Manufacturing. - Implements and drives continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management processes and best practices.
- Optimizes resource utilization by implementation of an effective production organization.
- Works with Supervisors to effectively execute policies and organizational goals and objectives in the hiring, training and supervision of production and service personnel. Supports and promotes health and safety guidelines, training and compliance to include hazardous waste and EPA compliance. Reviews all safety related incidents and associated corrective actions.
- Assigns project priorities such as production, maintenance and repair, cost reduction, or lean/six sigma - may obtain bids for additional work from outside contractors.
- Inspects plant facilities or reviews inspection reports to determine repairs, replacement, or improvements required.
- Oversees maintenance records of labor and material cost for operating building; issues cost reports to management as required; monitors and approves purchase orders for building, maintenance and safety supplies, machinery, equipment, and furniture.
- Demonstrate, through actions, a commitment to the philosophy of continuous improvement and multi-disciplined problem-solving teams in all aspects of performance.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated tact and diplomacy.
- Responsible for non-witnessed Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) pass/fail.
- Manages Production Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisor. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of work performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, with five years' experience in a manufacturing plant.
- Demonstrated experience and/or training in Six Sigma, Principles of Lean, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Pull Systems, Cellular Manufacturing, and Kaizen events.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Work requires continual attention to detail in follow through, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
