Relief Operator

Operates the mill in an efficient manner with respect to production, quality, sanitation and safety. This position is normally scheduled on the 7AM to 3 PM shift but covers vacancies on the 3 PM to 11 PM or 11 PM to 7 AM shift and can be for extended periods of time.

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Maintains correct and proper operation of all equipment pertaining to the Corn Mill process.
  2. Records data, secures samples and performs necessary process control tests required for the successful operation of the plant.
  3. Notifies supervisor of irregularities.
  4. Removes choke-ups and feeds in spills.
  5. Performs minor repair work as required for the efficient operation of the mill.
  6. Performs any necessary lubrication in emergency situations where loss of production could occur when the oiler is not present.
  7. Sweeps and cleans areas as instructed (3rd floor only).
  8. Employees designated as the Relief Operator will maintain their seniority on the first shift. When relieving, their seniority will apply to the applicable shift assignment.
  9. Replaces Rotex screen wires.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  11. Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.

Skills/requirements:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work effectively with others in a team environment.
