R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the strategic technology direction by contributing your own ideas for identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative technology, software and solutions. Each day, you will assist the Research and Development (R&D) team by executing your assigned tasks and using technical knowledge in a structured way. You will also showcase your expertise by staying abreast of the state of the art and actively applying this knowledge.
You will be mainly accountable for:
*Working as a reliable contributor in R&D projects
Using technical know-how in your own area of competence to solve problems.
*Supporting the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost), and raising and addressing risks.
*Knowing some of the key drivers for ABB in your own area and performing activities in line with the current direction.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with minimum of 3+ years' experience in design and development of products or Equivalent with professional diploma certificate with minimum of 5+ years' experience in design and development of products
  • Experience in manufacturing implementation of new and modified designs preferred.
  • Expertise in high volume manufacturing processes, including stamping, molding, welding, assembly, and automation.
  • Experience with CAD design and product documentation, Creo and Windchill preferred.
  • Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues.
  • Experience defining, designing, and integrating cost effective, compliant solutions.
  • Track record executing product design projects in teams and individually.
  • Experience working with standards and standards compliance.
  • Experience with Switches, Transfer switches, Automatic transfer switches, electrical panelboards, circuit breakers, or similar products or other Electro-Mechanical design and testing experience.
  • Experience in Mechanical design related to electrical components or equipment.
  • Previous experience with automated generation of Bill of Materials.
  • Proven record of engineering analysis and design execution success.
  • Experience on thermal, stress, structural and short circuit, and analysis, using Creo as modeling tool.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma - Green Belt certified preferred.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $61,900 and $115,100 annually.
