Job Description

Omni Providence is seeking a Class 2 Engineer to join the team! This team member will be responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical.



Responsibilities

    Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
  • Perform maintenance and light repairs, public area walk through and daily light check and repair.
  • Perform routine landscaping inspection and repair on the grounds.
  • Perform CARE /PRP to guest rooms and public spaces (paint, plaster, tile, wall paper, etc.) to the specifications required by Omni in both quantity and quality.
  • Undertake light installation or carpeting (e.g. build cabinets).
  • Repair equipment or appliances in guestrooms or public spaces.
  • Answer room calls through radio from PBX or Synergy system.
  • Assist technicians with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs.
  • Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. shoveling snow, leak repairs).
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
  • Receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
  • Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis or as a project.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and learn while helping with those repairs.
  • Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni Hotel rules and regulations.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes and other precautions that need to be taken around equipment.
  • Clean all work areas after completing a job.
  • Maintain engineering shops in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain engineering parts and supplies inventory.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Entry level experience as handyman with basic knowledge of general engineering tools and electrical equipment. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems.
  • Ability to assist all guests with a friendly and outgoing demeanor
  • Ability or prioritize and self manage assigned work.
  • Excellent organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
  • Be able to fully understand, read and write in the English language.

Physical Requirements:

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond to dangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight. Wear personal protective equipment when required.
  • May be required to work at heights above 100 feet.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment.
