From macroeconomic forecasts to individual stock analysis, our team develops tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. Our analysts work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights. You'll be part of a team that is intellectually curious, creative, analytical, and passionate about performing market research.

Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies. GIR analysts, economists and strategists help our clients achieve superior returns through our creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include mutual funds, hedge funds and pension funds, among others.

We are seeking Economics or Finance PhD candidates for a 10-week paid fellowship to explore a career in Macro Research. Fellows will receive training, networking, mentorship, and hands-on research experience as an active contributor of a research team.

As a Fellow, you will:



  • Learn about the Goldman Sachs culture and the firm's mission and businesses
  • Join the Commodities Research team to contribute to unique research projects and team publications.


Responsibilities

Working closely with the Co-Heads of Commodities Research and team, Fellows will:



  • Generate thematic written research.
  • Develop quantitative models to forecast key variables shaping global energy markets and the energy transition


Preferred Qualifications



  • PhD candidate in Economics or Finance (the expected graduation date should be no later than Summer 2026).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven capability for original research.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
