Job SummaryBenefit Advocates are responsible for managing and coordinating a high volume of service requests (phone, emails, portal, chat) from employees (and their immediate family) of our clients. The position focuses on educating and assisting callers with understanding, navigating through and obtaining the maximum value of their healthcare and wellness benefits, and employee incentive programs provided by their employers. Benefit Advocates assist employees to understand their benefit plan offering, and provide direction in working through a variety of benefit issues

Answer incoming/make outgoing calls, emails, on-line chats and secure instant messages from the clients employees and their covered family members and identify their immediate needs and determine the appropriate resolution action(s):

  • Respond to benefit inquiries (e.g. medical, dental, life, STD, LTD)
  • Assist members with questions regarding annual enrollment, new hire benefits, and life events. Educate member on plan details including FSA and HSA
  • Conduct outreach to providers, networks and suppliers to resolve issues or gain information on members behalf
  • Identify and escalate member issues by routing to appropriate Operations Team, Care Champions or Supervisor for immediate resolution
  • Connect members with healthcare and wellness resources
  • Provide member with healthcare and/or wellness options and information to resolve questions or issue at hand
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry of applicable call information in appropriate systems
  • Maintain privacy/confidentiality of participants and employee information following HIPAA and company guidelines and actively participates in URAC and company quality management activities as so requested
  • Make outbound calls when necessary
  • Support open enrollment
  • Other duties as needed/assigned

Required Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum one year of insurance and/or benefits customer service experience
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to continuously display a positive attitude and follow directions
  • Possess excellent customer service skills including proper grammar, tonalities and clear dictation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry and electronic mail applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to persons representing diverse personal, professional, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Must be able to work a flexible 37.5 hour work week in a 24/7/365 call center environment - some 3rd shift, evenings, weekends, and holidays will be required
  • Ability to sit and use the phone for long periods of time

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • EBS, PHR, SPHR or CBP certification

Please note: We are hiring for a training class that will begin on January 13, 2025. Training will be 10 weeks and requires full attendance working the hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm CST Monday - Friday. After training, you will work your regular hours of 12:00 - 8:00 pm CST from Monday - Friday. You will also be required to work rotational Saturdays (averaging every 5 weeks) and some holidays.

This role is based remotely, however candidates must live in one the following states: IL, MT, IN, IA, KS, MO, NC, NM, OK, PA, TX or WI.
