Technical Space Planning Lead

We are seeking a Lab Planning Lead to manage a team of lab space planners and lab program coordinators. The Lead is responsible for oversight and delivery of request intake and facilitation, viability assessment and conceptual solutions, and pre-project planning for lab space and lab equipment requests. This includes collaboration with key stakeholders on technical requirements/specifications gathering, infrastructure availability and/or gaps, space solution ideation, and delivering packages that inform project design and execution. This role requires expertise with occupancy planning in technical lab environments.

Role Purpose
As a Lab Planning Lead, you'll oversee and coordinate the intake and facilitation of lab space and equipment requests and thestrategic planning and coordination of complex, high-impact laboratory projects across multiple product areas. Responsible for developing comprehensive project frameworks, including advanced data analysis, complex equipment integration, and critical infrastructure planning. Defines and aligns overarching project goals with organizational objectives, optimizing scope, timeline, and resource allocation. Oversees Product Area-specific reporting and analytics, providing critical insights to senior leadership. Serves as the primary liaison between cross-functional teams, facilitating seamless communication and project handoffs to the Project Manager Lead and Project Management team. Drives continuous improvement in lab planning methodologies and best practices.
You'll need to have extensive experience and knowledge in planning lab environments including infrastructure and HSE parameters. You will interact with organizational leadership to ensure high quality response and delivery of planning solutions and effective coordination of the activity pipeline. You will need a thorough understanding of occupancy planning business operating processes and tooling, be highly organized, and able to facilitate programs. You will be a leader in the Occupancy Planning team, modeling superior client relationship management and strategic thinking.

What this job involves
Key responsibilities include:

Manage a team of:
Lab program coordinators to:
Assess lab requests for feasibility and scope. Include intake conversation with lab user, identification of existing options / equipment opportunities. Develop detailed scope requirement package for request approval and execution

Provide Technical Move request management

Develop, manage, and coordinate technical move requests for moves, adds and changes (MAC) with facilities and determine appropriate services to be provided by respective teams (Facilities Operations, IT, Security, external Vendors, etc.)

Provide Onsite Coordination

Coordinate vendors access on-site, including access to site, security, etc.. for efforts related to specific technical projects

Partner with CAFM operations team to develop ways to document technical space layouts, including fixed equipment in technical areas. Identify goals and initiatives to continually improve occupancy accuracy and reporting.

Provide Project support and coordination

Support FCS FacOps / Project team on execution of technical projects (representing planning intent and scope)

Lab Space Planners to:
Develop scope and program for technical build projects, including defining scope, coordinating end user engagement, including requested changes within technical areas.

Develop and manage the equipment list by gathering equipment cut-sheets and partnering with client to develop specifications and deferred submittals for custom equipment as needed by project team.

Based on approved plans, oversee execution of lab or tool relocation related to technical projects, including the development and execution of project planning activities, timing of group moves/relocations, phasing plans, equipment installation and commissioning / validation

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Real Estate, Architecture, Design, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field and 7-10 years of corporate experience, preferably in lab space/occupancy planning

Proficiency in business analytics, data visualization, and advanced analytical tools

Strong ability to link analysis to business objectives and communicate insights effectively

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for all levels of interaction

Adaptable self-starter with strong time management and multi-tasking abilities

Proactive problem-solver with innovative mindset and team-oriented approach

Experience in guiding teamwork and managing changing priorities
