Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
Employee shall have a basic of understanding Chemical properties to meet the following job requirements:
Annual inventory of all chemical containers (including gas cylinders/dewars) in laboratories, facility areas, and Research Support Facility (RSF) chemical warehouse.
Conduct occasional Chemical Laboratory Audits with a focus on the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Perform chemical container inspections to ensure proper labeling and compliance with IBMs requirements.
Utilize computer data management skills to update IBMs Site Hawk database.
Assist in providing chemical waste management skills to reconcile the removal of waste chemical containers.
Work with IBM's chemical tracking system, SAP and SiteHawk
Perform the following tasks:Scan all chemical container barcodes (Buyer supplies equipment).
Apply new barcode labels to any chemical containers found to be missing label
Query and reconcile SAP for inventory discrepancies
Track inventory progress
Provide hazardous waste services for chemical inventory disposal
Apply hazardous warning labels on chemical containers missing hazard information.
Coordinate waste container segregation/storage location assignment
Perform waste chemical container/gas cylinder pickup from labs
Prepare computer generated reports regarding RSF activity
Conduct safety compliance/audit readiness observations in the RSF Waste Storage Areas
Assists with Water Treatment Plant and High Purity Water Plant related activities

JOB REQUIREMENTS

United States citizenship required.
College level Chemistry course.
Excellent communication skills including professional writing and oral presentation.
Experience in the use of computer systems and software programs.
Knowledge, experience and comprehension of basic industrial processes and the ability to make quantitative observations and measurements.
Knowledge of and familiarity with safety codes and standards (i.e., OSHA, NEC, NFPA).
Ability to ensure implementation of engineering controls, abatement strategies and the interpretation of data.
Ability to function alone or with a team to perform inspections of a variety of industrial, construction and laboratory processes.
Prefer Associate degree in related field, or three (3) years of HSE or project-related experience.
Prefer knowledge of fundamentals of hazard recognition, evaluation, environmental area controls and basic aspects of industrial hygiene.
Prefer field experience in the use of chemical storage, identification and safe work practices.
Prefer knowledge of workplace HSE laws and regulations.
Prefer familiarity with all applicable local, state and federal laws, codes and standards.
