The Broward County Board of County Commissioners Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates for Program Project Coordinator (Transit Security).

General Description The Program Project Coordinator (Transit Security) manages and coordinates, with considerable independence, all activities of a particular program/project within the Transit Division.

Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, public administration, or closely related field.

(Once year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires two (2) years in a staff or administrative capacity managing special projects, programs or business operations appropriate to the area of assignment or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License for the duration of assignment.

Preferences

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in safety, transportation, business, public administration or field related to area of assignment
  • FTA Transit Safety and Security Program Certification
  • ASIS Security Certification
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute Certification
  • Law Enforcement Certification
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in regulations, standards, guidance, and industry best practices of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) 14.90
  • One (1) or more years of experience in law enforcement
  • Two (2) or more years' experience in Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) union environment
  • One (1) or more years of experience in Apollo Video Technology or related systems


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

This position is responsible for evaluating conditions and work practices to identify and correct security matters, hazards/exposures and to ensure compliance with federal, state and local security regulations. This position works with internal and external customers to mitigate identified security matters, hazards, and exposures to employees, passengers and/or the public. Responsibilities also include development and delivery of security-related training.

Supports the Security Manager with overseeing compliance with law enforcement and contracted security. This includes field observations and site visits to transit facilities.

Compiles data reports and analysis for transit security trends that affect Broward County Transportation (BCT) with the ability to carry out tasks identified with the BCT Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan and Security Preparedness Plan.

Responds to transit-related safety and security events as required.

Assist with the procurement of all transit security systems.

Oversees the day-to-day implementation of transit security technology such as facility cameras, bus video, access control systems, and security alarms.

Assist Security Manager in coordination with Broward County Facility Management Division of security infrastructure for the transit division.

Attends project management meetings related to security for facility construction as well as transit vehicle acquisitions. Represent BCT security for transit facility construction and vehicle acquisitions.

Conducts annual safety and security reviews of Contractors for Broward County Transportation (BCT) providers.

Assists the Broward County Transportation (BCT) Security Manager with maintaining and updating all transit-related security plans.

Process and review employee identification card requests in conjunction with the Broward County ID Office.

Proficiency using Microsoft, Excel, Outlook, and Word systems.

Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and/or holidays as necessary.

Performs related work as assigned.
