Job DescriptionThe Career Advisor will assist the Career Development-Regional Lead in implementing regional/campus career development initiatives from planning to execution, ensuring alignment with TSTC programs and industry trends for maximum placement upon graduation for the campus/caseload. The Career Advisor will collaborate with the Career Services Employer Relations team, Student Learning & Operations, and Enrollment Management to provide best-in-class services to students in online, hybrid, and face-to-face programs to be empowered, lifelong learners beyond TSTC. The Career Advisor will collaborate with the Employer Relations team and Industry Relations Department to increase quality employment opportunities for TSTC graduates and execute placement collection and associated efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.

  • Program Implementation: Using a holistic caseload approach, educate and empower students on the journey to life beyond TSTC. Provide one-on-one, group or drop-in career advising to students on industry-related resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and professional development as a lifelong learner. Actively engages with the Career Services platforms and educates students on optimization practices. Facilitate active learning workshops, seminars, and other events to promote career readiness upon graduation. Assist in the execution of career fairs, employer panels, employer spotlights, employer networking opportunities, and other career and professional development services for students.

  • Career Advising: Ability to provide personalized career advising and support to students using holistic, caseload approaches.

  • Placement: Assist in deploying and collecting placement surveys and data. Provide feedback to continually improve and assess the process.

  • Collaboration: Build relationships with faculty, enrollment staff, and other support services staff to maximize student career readiness. Work with Career Services internal partners to align career services with campus goals and initiatives.

  • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance the student experience and placement opportunities.

  • Event Assistance: Assist in the execution of career fairs, employer panels, employer spotlights, employer networking opportunities, and other career and professional development services for students online, hybrid and face-to-face. Develop and deliver engaging career workshops and events.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred in Education, Business Administration, Psychology, or other related field.

  • 2 years of required experience in exceptional customer service experience. 3 years preferred.

  • 2 years of required experience in program coordination and deployment. 3 years preferred.

  • 2 years of required experience in case management. 3 years preferred.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner.

  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Adapt to changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and handle unexpected situations with poise. Flexibility in adjusting schedules and accommodating shifting demands.
