JOB SUMMARY:

The Optics and Photonics Theory group at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Saint Louis University School of Science and Engineering is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary research team that investigate modelling of optical devices, computational photonics, and electromagnetic scattering. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research projects while also pursuing their own research agenda in line with the department's objectives.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting research on topics in computational electromagnetics and multi-physics.

  • Collaborating with faculty and staff on theory development, design of experiments and interpretation of experimental data.

  • Writing reports and academic papers for publication in relevant journals.

  • Participating in grant writing and seeking funding opportunities.

  • Engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration within the department and with external partners.

  • Assisting in the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students involved in research projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field to computational physics and photonics (e.g., Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience in conducting research in the field of computational electromagnetics and numerical analysis.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Mathematica, or Python.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
