Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care ( UCHC) is seeking a Forensic Mental Health Clinician for CSL Parole Board, located in Trenton, New Jersey. The Forensic Mental Health Clinician supervises unit interns, trainees and staff as assigned; independently completes specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs of adults sentenced to the Department of Corrections, recognizing the unique needs and behaviors of adult and seniors; arrives at diagnoses with precision and accuracy; develops treatment plans based on assessment that outlines preferred treatment modality; assesses and makes referrals for higher levels of care as appropriate; and skilled in in providing crisis intervention, group, and individual therapies.

Duties include:

  • Provides direct clinical supervision to psychology interns, trainees and staff as assigned
  • Provides psychological testing and evaluations of referred adult inmates/patients
  • As assigned, provides crisis intervention, individual, and group psychotherapy & psycho-educational programming as clinically indicated to assigned inmates/patients.
  • As assigned, assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned inmates/patients including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
  • Maintains appropriate inmate/patient records in a timely manner as mandated by UCHC policy

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D. in Psychology with relevant experience that includes training in psychological testing and minimum of two (2) years' experience, including graduate training, working in a behavioral health care or related setting.
  • Candidate must be licensed in the State of New Jersey as a practicing Psychologist or possess an unrestricted permit to practice psychology in New Jersey (license) by the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners.
