Under general supervision of the Family Engagement (FE) Manager, the Family Engagement Specialist II will effectively maintain functions of the FE and Program Governance program areas, which includes directly supporting program staff in the active engagement of parents in their child's education, family goal setting process, monthly program governance activities and accessing community resources.

This position is full time, 40 hours per week; will work a non-traditional schedule (i.e., weeknights and weekends). This is a hybrid work environment and will consist of working remotely and/or at headquarters' office location. Will include travel between San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Within a team environment, the Family Engagement Specialist II will perform the following responsibilities:

MONITORING & RECORD KEEPING (30%)
* Monitor program compliance with Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS) regulations and Head Start Act relating to family services, transition, non-federal match (NFM) and program governance and ensure policies and procedures are implemented. Analyze data to identify trends and training needs.
* Conduct monthly desktop monitoring of data reports and children's files to ensure complete and accurate family engagement documentation, analyzing for both compliance and provision of quality services as stated in policies and procedures. Utilize trends and findings to inform staff training and program policies.
* Track and monitor all documentation and completion of FE referrals.
* In collaboration with the FE Manager, oversee the NFM system, including the collection, record keeping, data entry, staff and parent training across all program options.

CASE MANAGEMENT & TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (30%)
* Utilizing a strength based and reflective approach will provide onsite or virtual support to home educators, family advocates, and other program staff on program activities around as goal setting, family needs assessments, NFM, family engagement and program governance.

TRAINING (20%)
* Organize, develop and facilitate monthly Reflective practice groups with Family Advocates.
* Organize, develop and facilitate ongoing data informed parent trainings and workshops in collaboration with service areas and program staff.
* Organize, develop and facilitate evidence based parent education curriculum (i.e. Abriendo Puertas | Opening Door).
* Organize, develop and facilitate the Family Development Credential course for program, agency, and external community.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP & OUTREACH (10%)
* Build community partnerships, negotiate and develop written agreements and/or contracts with community service providers to facilitate access to additional resources and services as needed for program families.
* Develop and maintain communication with various community partners, professional, and governmental organizations that provide services to community and program participants to promote positive health outcomes.

TEAM PROJECTS & PLANNING (10%)
* Actively participate in team meetings by preparing meeting materials and facilitation.
* Assist in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of area specific events such as Policy Council (PC) monthly meetings, PC Breakfast, PC Leadership training, Transition events, Community Provider Luncheon, etc.
* Participate in cross-functional workgroups to assist in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of program wide event.

Non-Essential Duties And Responsibilities

These duties include tasks that are required and comprise less than 5% of daily functions for this job:
* Provide oral translation for Spanish speaking parents during trainings, meetings, and events.
* Plan, develop and facilitate summer and winter staff training.
* Input data and information into Child Plus, as needed.
* Actively participate in monthly Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings (MDTM).
* Represent the FE area at internal and external meetings.
* Participate in the program's annual self-assessment and federal monitoring events.
* Participate in off-site community events.
