The opportunity

The Southern New Hampshire University Wellness Center is looking for a licensed clinician to join our integrated Wellness team that provides medical, mental health and health promotion services to the SNHU Community. The University Counselor position provides counseling services to SNHU students including crisis intervention, assessment and referral services, and personal and group psychotherapy. You will also participate in programing and outreach services to our Campus community to promote positive health and wellness outcomes. The Wellness Counselor role is a full-time, 10 month annual position which consists of working from August 1st to May 31st of each year. Ideal compensation and target budget for this role is $50k - $55k, depending on overall experience. This is an on-site position located on our Manchester, NH campus. You will report to the Assistant Director of Counseling. #LI-Onsite

What you'll do:

  • Provide crisis intervention, assessment and referral services, individual and group counseling to undergraduate and graduate student populations.

  • Participate in emergency on-call counseling rotation with members of the Counseling Services team.

  • Participate in collaborative treatment with members of the integrated Wellness Center that provides medical, mental health and health promotion services.

  • Provide outreach services to students of diverse backgrounds such as students of color, LGBTQAI+, and international students. Deliver programming to fraternities and sororities, athletes and other student groups.

  • Deliver substance use related assessment, intervention and referral services in collaboration with the Office of Community Standards.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide workshops and outreach programs.

  • Follow the procedures outlined in the Wellness Center, the Student Affairs and Campus Initiatives Division, and other SNHU Policy and Procedures Manuals.

  • Maintain confidentiality by the appropriate NH State licensing boards, NH state law, the federal confidentiality standards, and professional code of ethics.

  • Participate in staff meetings, group and individual supervision.

  • Maintain proper and thorough clinical documentation in electronic medical record.

  • Participate in active professional development through in-service trainings, conferences and other professional development opportunities.

  • Maintain affiliation and membership with campus committees.

  • Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director.

What we're looking for:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or a related discipline.

  • Current New Hampshire Licensure is required or within one year of employment. Examples would be an independent Clinical Licensure (LCMHC, LICSW, PSYD).

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including people of color, LGBTQAI+ individuals, and individuals with different national origins and immigration histories is required.

  • Experience in crisis intervention, brief treatment, substance abuse or eating disorders.

  • Experience with independent work in a collaborative and integrated treatment setting is crucial.

Additional experience with:

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi or other language is highly preferred.

  • Experience in a college health and counseling environments is preferred.

  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record system is preferred.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $51,608.00 - $82,590.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $57,027.00 - $77,155.00.
