Staffing Agency Radiologic Technologist

GENERAL SUMMARY:

* This position will be used for staffing agency employees only.

Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.

3. *Uses sterile technique as required.

4. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.

5. Performs venipunctures.

6. *Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services

7. *Utilizes department computer systems, files, PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.

8. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.

9. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.

10. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.

11. Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as assigned.

12. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.

13. *Keeps area properly supplied.

14. Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.

15. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
