OVERVIEW:

Under the supervision of Shelter Deputy Director and Shelter Director, the Case Worker will interview, coordinate, and cooperate with other Salvation Army, government departments and private agency staffing to refer shelter guests to needed services in an orderly and timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinate the intake and interviews of shelter guests upon entry to the shelter
  • Assist shelter guests with resourcing services in housing, employment, mental and physical health services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and recovery, Social Security, Disability, and other support services
  • Have periodic interviews and updates with client guests to assist them in finding needed services to break out of homelessness
  • Other related duties as required


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



    • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
    • 21 years old (required)
    • Experience in informal mental health/substance abuse evaluation
    • Experience in resource development for homeless populations
    • Education in social services/substance abuse (preferred)


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



    • Great communication skills
    • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties
    • Possess maturity and confidentiality
    • Knowledge of Microsoft programs


    EQUIPMENT USED:



    • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (Usually file boxes)
