Position Summary:

The Programming Coordinator position is responsible for providing program support and customer service for the Program Department of The Kroc Center. In addition, the position will provide proactive and quality collaborative efforts with Marketing, Youth Development, Aquatics and Member Services. The person in this position must have superior customer service skills and strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail. They must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. This position will be involved in many areas of The Center, both creating and supporting systems for others to be successful. The ability to seek information, ask for assistance, and manage time in a manner that allows for quality is imperative.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform data entry tasks including Traction Rec, UPace, and regular updates in relation to the Program Guide, Calendar and Membership Changes.
  • Practical experience in the creation and manipulation of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Editing and maintenance of Program Materials to include Program Guide, Drop in Guide and promotional materials. Scheduled training and content review with appropriate departments.
  • Coordination of classes including room set ups, materials preparation and staff communication.
  • Preparing classes in order for instructors and students to have a positive and successful experience (room set ups, honorarium processing, and other standard preparation duties.


  • Continued development and consideration of senior programming to fit needs and opportunities for senior members and Center; to include collaborative efforts with Healthy Aging and special events.


  • Assist in youth programs as needed when staff or volunteer is not available to ensure Safe from Harm requirements.


  • Instructor staffing through W2W and program development participation with leadership.
  • Develop content and staffing for robust Mini Camp program in summer.
  • Hiring, development, evaluation, discipline and oversight of program instructors and staff.
  • Training staff to use software systems such as Traction Rec and UPace by creating in-person trainings and professional training documentation. This will often be done in collaboration with other leadership, but with a primary role.
  • May be asked to drive to support Senior Field Trips, Third Grade Swim, Red Kettle efforts and Kroc Summer Camp.

General Qualifications and Proficiencies:



  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, with working experience of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
  • Ability to access, produce and research information from a computer.


  • Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License (will need to take TSA Driver Training and be certified to drive People Mover)
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work.
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Detail oriented; Self-starter. Ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment. Team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Able to maintain multiple filing systems.
  • Knowledge of office machines and their operations.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures helpful.



Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
