Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Buyer to be based out of Dallas, TX. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this position will be responsible for purchasing activities for materials, equipment, and supplies for production facilities by performing the following duties personally.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED and three years related experience and/or training. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What You'll Do:



  • Plans, organizes, and controls activities related to purchasing functions.
  • Enforcement of Purchasing Policy and related processes.
  • Creating Purchase Orders in the current Order Management System. Compiling Material Purchasing Specifications and material forecasting. Placing Purchase Orders with suppliers.
  • Expediting and tracking delivery status of Purchase Orders to include back orders and or delayed shipments.
  • Generate and manage Open Purchase Order Report.
  • Analyze materials and supplies as required and recommend replenishments.
  • Provide regular updates regarding the status of requests for both purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Assisting in inventory counts
  • Complete administrative tasks for other departments as assigned.
  • Completing additional projects and tasks as assigned.


What You'll Bring:



  • High School Diploma or GED and three years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, plan workload, and establish work priorities.
  • Exhibit extraordinary discretion and flexibility
  • Excellent computer skills to include, Word, Power Point, Excel
  • Must display very good organization and time management skills
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities
  • Must have sound judgment and discretional skills and be able to work with little supervision
  • Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects
  • Must be to work with sensitive and confidential material
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English

Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion program.
  • Understand how your position will help deliver Atkore's Business Strategy.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders within the plant.
  • Develop relationships with key outside vendors.
  • Gain a full understanding of your team and your importance to the production process.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Design and execute purchasing strategies to achieve targeted working capital budget.
  • Ensure coordination between planning, scheduling, and plant operations to achieve KPI goals.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for improvement through Kaizen and team planning participation.
