Job Summary

#CA-FT

The role of this position is to supervise clinical and support staff providing mental health services and provide assistance to the Program Manager in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies and procedures. This position will also provide clinical social work evaluations, individual and group counseling, monitoring of medication side effects under the direction of a Psychiatrist, case management, crisis intervention, documentation, consultation, training, education and referral.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a CA Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW).
  • A Master's Degree from an accredited School of Social Work.
  • One-year supervisory experience.
  • Clinical work experience in a social service, healthcare, jail, or correctional setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of DSM-5 and diagnostic criteria.
  • Proven ability to manage conflict.
  • Knowledge of employee coaching and counseling techniques and principles of progressive discipline.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Collective Bargaining and Affirmative Action principles.
  • Communication skills and ability to relate well with and motivate employees.
  • Ability to promote, coordinate, and facilitate a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc. Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law and policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Social Work experience in a jail or correctional setting highly preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in the areas of individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Advanced understanding of computer and MS functionality.

Department Overview

Adult Correctional Mental Health (ACMH) is a satellite contract program of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The program provides mental health services to inmates incarcerated inside the two Sacramento County jails located in downtown Sacramento and in Elk Grove and Jail Based Competency Treatment (JBCT) and Early Access and Stabilization Services (EASS) to inmates found Incompetent to stand trial. The JBCT and EASS programs serve inmates charged with felony crimes and deemed incompetent to stand trial by the court (PC 1370).

Must pass and maintain the Sacramento County Sheriff Department's Security Clearance.
