The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Recent Alumni in the Columbia College Office of Development and Alumni Relations (CCDAR), the Assistant Director, Student Philanthropy and Recent Alumni Giving plays an integral role in a dynamic Alumni Relations and Development team. Focusing on undergraduate students and new graduates, the Assistant Director will enhance and manage existing student and new graduate initiatives, programs, and events as they relate to the efforts of the Columbia College Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Responsibilities



  • Administers all aspects of the Columbia College Senior Fund campaign (Senior Fund), the student philanthropy program, including committee recruitment, member training and supervision, and event execution. Establish goals and outcomes for the campaign in partnership with the Director and key College partners.
  • Increase student involvement and awareness of the Columbia College Alumni Association (CCAA) and Columbia College Fund's philanthropic and engagement priorities and identify and cultivate student leaders via the Senior Fund.
  • Manages a portfolio of existing and potential young alumni donors. Meet with and engage our youngest alumni through committees, events, and giving. The focus is on increasing overall dollars raised through retention, reactivation, and acquisition of prospects, with a minimum of 110 prospect visits annually.
  • Facilitate student-alumni interaction and fortify the relationship between the student body and the alumni community through small student-alumni programming efforts including on and off-campus events to celebrate graduating seniors.
  • Collaborates with members of the CCDAR team, College administrators, student groups, key alumni volunteers, and a variety of partners across campus. Work with Columbia College Women, Columbia College Young Alumni, Young Leaders Council, and Columbia College Student Council as needed. Under the direction of the Director, work with the Office of Undergraduate Student Life, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Center for Career Education. Work with College staff across campus to help manage the involvement of Senior Fund members in alumni events, galas, and dinners, such as Homecoming, Hamilton, and John Jay.
  • Work with Alumni Relations and Development colleagues as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required.



  • 2 years of related experience required.



  • Strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.



  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to quickly learn new software programs as required.



  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team essential.




*Position will require many evening and weekend assignments and possible travel.*

Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience in higher education, alumni relations, student services, residential life, or career center programs preferred.



  • A strong interest in advising groups of undergraduate students.



  • Volunteer management preferred.
