Summary

This position is responsible for development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of organizational continuous improvement initiatives related to protecting the safety and health of LVHN personnel, patients, and visitors. Coordinates workforce safety, emergency preparedness and crisis management readiness activities, workforce injury prevention, fire & life safety education, and administrative support for environment of care regulatory compliance. This position directly supports emergency management response, serving in a leadership capacity for the Emergency Management and Environment of Care committees.

Job Duties

  • Frontline emergency management support, including emergency responses, prevention and planning activities, and training.
  • Manages employee incident investigation program. Daily monitoring of work-related injuries, illnesses, incident reports, near-misses, etc. Initiates incident investigation and tracks to completion. Collaborates with leadership to ensure incidents are investigated in a timely manner with a focus on learning from each incident to prevent similar incidents from occurring. Performs challenging and/or complex incident investigations.
  • Performs collaborative hazard surveillance rounding at various locations throughout LVHN to proactively identify and address safety hazards and concerns. Responds to safety concerns, suggestions and complaints.
  • Provides administrative support for environment of care regulatory compliance, including serving in leadership roles for Environment of Care and Emergency Management committees and applicable subcommittees.
  • Development and delivery of emergency preparedness drills/exercises and completion of after-action reports
  • Performs safety & injury prevention data trending, report generation and analysis for departments, companies and committees throughout assigned campuses.
  • Collaboration with local, state, and federal emergency services and public safety partners

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety, occupational health, fire science, emergency services administration, engineering, political science, public administration/policy, healthcare-related science, emergency management, or a related field.
  • 2 years Prior experience in occupational safety or emergency preparedness
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and other software for preparation of reports, spreadsheets, flow charts, and graphic presentations.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and familiarity with occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of emergency incident management, fire safety education, and healthcare emergency preparedness program development.
  • CHSP - Certified Healthcare Safety Professional - State of Pennsylvania Within 180 Days or
  • CIH - Certified Industrial Hygienist - State of Pennsylvania Within 180 Days or
  • CSP - Certified Safety Professional - Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Within 180 Days or
  • ASP - Associate Safety Professional - Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Within 180 Days or
  • COHN - Certified Occupational Health Nurse ABOHNI - State of Pennsylvania Within 180 Days or
  • COHN-S-Cert Occupational Health Nurse Spec ABOHNI - State of Pennsylvania Within 180 Days

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years Prior experience with regulatory compliance management in the fields of occupational safety, healthcare, code enforcement, or emergency services.
  • CHEP-Cert Healthcare Emergency Prof IBCSM - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year or
  • AEM - Associate Emergency Manager IAEM - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year or
  • CEM - Certified Emergency Manager IAEM - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
