Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Nordson MEDICAL works with doctors, start-ups and large medical companies around the world at any point in the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.

The Process Engineer II shall, at a minimum, be responsible for the following functions:

  • Understanding the chemistry and processing of fluoropolymers.

  • Using experience and technical knowledge to research and determine the right production equipment, material, process, and processing environment for Fluoropolymer products.

  • Lead and manage engineering projects in the respective manufacturing area.

  • Initiate and conduct engineering studies/projects for new processes, process changes and improvements in order to (1) improve safety in manufacturing, (2) improve product quality and uniformity, and (3) increase production efficiency and decrease standard costs.

  • Support production to develop an optimum process and troubleshoot day to day issues.

  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to engineers and production personnel during new technology transfer.

  • Be the subject matter expert for Fluoropolymer Extrusion and support SAMs/RAMs and PLMs with customer queries.

  • Communications with production staff, coworkers, vendors, and engineering teams.

  • Participating in Company technology planning and development activities such as Site level NBS Next implementation.

  • Assist with production data collection and OEE data analysis and make improvements accordingly.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Technical Degree in polymer engineering or plastic engineering or Chemical engineering.

  • Minimum 3 years of direct Fluoropolymer or thermoplastic tubing extrusion experience.

  • Knowledge of Fluoropolymer material, properties, and its application in the medical industry.

  • Ability to understand a broad range of extrusion equipment functions.

  • General knowledge of chemical and mechanical functions in extrusion material and equipment.

  • Must understand lean six sigma methodologies and utilize them in process improvement projects.
