Job Summary
The Computer Science Department at Elmhurst University invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions. One will be at the assistant professor level. For the second, the department is open to the possibility of hiring at the rank of associate or full professor, if a candidate has suitable teaching, research and leadership experience.

The primary focus for both positions is teaching and supporting students across the undergraduate and graduate offerings of the department. Main teaching responsibilities include introductory courses such as CS I & II, as well as upper division courses within the undergraduate CS curriculum and selected courses at the master's level. All department faculty may be assigned teaching duties in any of the department's undergraduate or graduate programs. The CSIS department houses three traditional undergraduate majors: computer science, cybersecurity, and information systems. It also offers master's degrees in data science and computer information technology.
The teaching load is six courses per year. Typical class sizes range between 10-25 students. Classes may meet during day or evening hours and may be offered in onsite, hybrid or online formats. Candidates must have a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
Candidates must also be committed to a robust scholarly agenda in a computational science discipline as well as service to the department and institution.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include:

  • Course preparation, teaching, grading, student advising, and being available to assist students who have questions or require assistance.
  • Ongoing scholarly activity.
  • Service on faculty governing bodies of the University.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's in computer science or a computational science-related discipline with significant progress toward a PhD.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A PhD in computer science or a computational science-related discipline .
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
